2016 Texas Society Architects Design Expo

texas society of architectsThe 77th-Annual Texas Society of Architects Convention and Design Expo, Convergence, will take place November 3-5 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX. Focused on the theme of “Convergence,” the program will explore how geographical influences and design ideas come together to create meaningful impact on the built environment.

JENSEN HUGHES is exhibiting during the expo at booth 821, and two senior staff members are presenting continuing education sessions related to the 2015 International Building Code.

Michael Crowley, P.E., FSFPE, SASHE, is scheduled to present, “International Building Code 2015: Locking Doors, Vertical Opening, and Other Compliance Issues.” His presentation is Friday, November 4, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in Expo Room 2. The course counts for 1 AIA, HSW continuing education credit.

IBC Code 2015 Course Description

The 2015 edition of the International Building Code has created some compliance challenges for designers and building officials. This presentation will review when and how to lock means of egress doors and how to provide a secure facility. It will also discuss vertical openings allowed and key design criteria for compliance.

William Burrus, P.E., is scheduled to present, “IBC Egress Essentials.” His presentation is Friday, November 4, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 207. The course counts for 1 AIA, HSW continuing education credit.

IBC Egress Essentials Course Description

This session will take attendees through various chapters of the 2015 International Building Code as they relate to egress and occupancy. There will be a special emphasis on means of egress essentials, such as number of exits, common path of travel, travel distance, clearances, etc. We will also highlight maintenance of fire protection and life safety building features and equipment, including fire-resistance rated construction and protected openings, sprinkler systems, and fire alarm systems.
