JENSEN HUGHES is pleased to announce that Andrew McCarra, P.E., recently passed the Professional Engineering Exam in Maryland. Andrew joined the firm in 2012 and works as a Fire Protection Consultant.

Andrew’s experience includes designing fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems, ranging from one-story residential buildings, to over a million square foot facilities. He also performs life safety and smoke control analysis, reviews shop drawings for fire protection and alarm systems, and inspects installations of systems.

As a Fire Protection Engineering Consultant, Andrew assists in the design and analysis of fire protection systems, and provides life safety analysis. He works in AutoCAD and Revit to design fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems. Andrew also reviews shop drawings and performs field inspections for compliance to applicable codes.

Prior to joining JENSEN HUGHES, Andrew worked as an intern for the Maryland Aviation Administration in Glen Burnie, MD, where he conducted fire protection surveys of the Baltimore Washington International (BWI) and Martin State Airports. He participated in fire protection projects at the airports, including smoke management at BWI and an overhaul of the fire protection system at Martin State.

Andrew earned his Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2012. He is a member of the Salamander Fire Protection Engineering Honor Society, Beta Chapter.
