Carolina Vinado is a Materials Engineer who specializes in Li-ion battery assembly, testing, failure mode analysis, and material characterization. She holds a PhD in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Washington. She provides technical support, litigation support and expert analyses to law firms, insurance companies and industry.

Carolina works closely with other engineering professionals, providing a multi-disciplinary approach and combining expertise on particular projects to determine root cause, failure modes, and material degradation, and product life expectancy. She develops test protocols, conducts laboratory research and testing, performs computer integrated data collection, provides analysis of results and recommendations for process improvements.

Dr. Vinado has extensive experience in research, development, and testing of complex material systems and characteristics. She is skilled with material characterization instrumentation including: battery cycling, cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermogravimetry Analysis (TGA) and optical microscopy.
