Alec Liebman has provided forensic investigation and restoration consulting services for historic and modern structures for the past eight years. His expertise includes knowledge of state-of-practice, non-destructive investigation techniques such as ground penetrating radar, ultrasonics, infrared thermography, vibration monitoring/analysis and drill resistance for wood and stone. He has worked with architects, engineers, government entities, owners and owner representatives on diverse structures performing a variety of historic preservation and property assessments throughout the country. Mr. Liebman's expertise includes stone and brick masonry construction means, methods and materials, structural and architectural metal and traditional timber and engineered wood components. His primary focus is historic masonry. He applies his knowledge of non-destructive investigation tools on the ground to understand the performance of historic structures and their materials. Mr. Liebman sits on the ASTM committee C12, Mortars and Grouts for Unit Masonry, which plays an important role in all aspects to the industry of mortar used with masonry units.
