Ray joined Jensen Hughes after a highly successful 25-year career with the U.S. Secret Service Technical Security Division and brings with him significant experience and expertise in conducting security risk and vulnerability assessments, which are invaluable to the service we provide to our clients.
As a Physical Security Specialist in the U.S. Secret Service in both Washington, DC and the Dallas Field Office, Ray served under four Presidents and was responsible for ensuring a technically secure environment for the President, Vice President, Foreign Dignitaries, and their families, at both permanent and temporary locations worldwide. His responsibilities included identifying vulnerabilities and implementing countermeasures in the areas of explosives, hazardous materials, fire and life safety, chemical, biological and radiological weapons, as well as structural, mechanical and electrical concerns. He also provided technical surveillance countermeasures and is a graduate of the Interagency Training Center.
Early in his career, Ray was a member and team leader of the Secret Service’s HAMMER team which was a rapid response team to provide decontamination, threat identification and medical intervention to the protectee in the event of a chemical, biological or other hazardous material attack. During his time in the Dallas Field Office, he was responsible for the security design, installation and maintenance of access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance management systems for over eight U.S. Secret Service Field Offices, as well as former President Bush’s private residences. This assignment also included serving as a lead technician providing technical surveillance support with tracking, video and audio intercept technologies to aid in various complex Federal, State and Local investigations involving counterfeiting, fraud, murder, etc.
During the last three years of his career, Ray was promoted to Supervisor and was responsible for leading the division’s Explosives Countermeasure branch in Washington, DC. He led a team of professionals and was responsible for various classified threat identification and mitigation programs, managed contracts and budgeting, worked with stakeholders and kept abreast of the latest intelligence and new technologies to stay ahead of the evolving threats. His career also included serving as the Lead Technical Coordinator for the Bush 43 Library opening, United Nations Hazardous Incident Response Team and the 2019 State of the Union.
Ray prides himself in building and improving upon professional working relationships with clients and colleagues as well as support personnel. He is a member of ASIS International and enjoys volunteering his time with various youth organizations within the community.
