Scott is a professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in mechanical engineering, spanning multiple industries. Scott provides forensic engineering and expert witness services, specializing in mechanical and product failure investigations. His particular expertise includes plumbing and appliance-related flood analysis, HVAC systems, gas-related incidents—including fires and explosions—and personal injury cases. His forensic work draws on advanced knowledge in failure analysis, pressure and leak testing, and functionality evaluations of plumbing systems, appliances, and mechanical assemblies—all supported by a strong foundation in mechanical system design, manufacturing processes, and regulatory standards.
Scott’s diverse industry background includes the machine tool industry, aerospace engineering, construction and plumbing products, and medical device development. He began his career in mechanical design for precision machine tools, then advanced to aerospace applications where he developed specialized equipment and tooling to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality control for fluid transport systems. In the flexible tubing and piping sector, he engineered and commercialized an innovative lightning mitigation solution for corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) gas distribution systems. His medical device work includes the design and development of orthopedic implants and surgical instrumentation.
Throughout his career, Scott has utilized advanced engineering tools, including 3D CAD and finite element analysis (FEA), to evaluate complex mechanical systems and assess component performance and failure modes. He is also a certified building analyst and envelope professional, with expertise in building diagnostics, including infiltration and duct leakage assessment. He has conducted residential inspections focused on moisture intrusion, pressure irregularities, and building envelope performance.
