November 3, 2017

JENSEN HUGHES is pleased to announce that Gord Richards is nominated to receive the prestigious Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) Award for Lifetime Volunteer Achievement. The AIBC is an independent, professional self-regulatory body established in 1920 by the provincial statute: the Architects Act. It regulates the profession of architecture on behalf of the public in British Columbia, Canada.

The AIBC Lifetime Volunteer Achievement award was established in 2016 by the AIBC Volunteer Recognition Committee to recognize individuals who made exceptional contributions to the fulfillment of the institute’s mandate through a lifetime of exceptional service on AIBC operations boards, committees, panels, and task forces. This award is presented to volunteers that donated countless hours to the AIBC and have contributed greatly to the organization’s success. This year’s awards ceremony will be held on the evening of November 23, 2017 at the VanDusen Botanical Garden’s BMO Great Hall.

Gord Richards has been a member of the AIBC since 1982, and became a Certified Professional in 1984. He was first elected to the AIBC Council in 2004 and joined the Registration Board as Council Liaison. He was appointed by Council as Registrar in 2005, and has served in that capacity several times over the past 12 years. He has been a member of the AIBC Intern Experience Review Committee since 2006. He was appointed as AIBC Council Vice President in 2009, and as President in 2011.
