FAQs
HazAdvisr considers hazard properties as defined in the International Code Council (ICC) codes – including the International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC) – as well as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards like NFPA 1 Fire Code and NFPA 30 Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code. Every attempt is made to correlate with the latest editions of these standards.
Chemical classifications are performed by qualified experts (chemical engineers, industrial hygienists, chemists and fire protection engineers) utilizing information available from manufacturers and our clients. It is possible that the chemicals listed may have other, valid classifications (based on differences in reported test results, particle size and concentration ranges). Classifications are also derived from information in safety data sheets and other reference materials assumed to be correct at the time of classification. Each project is reviewed by competent professionals in accordance with our professional standard of care.
HazAdvisr serves three functions:
- Checks the classifications of individual chemicals or mixtures.
- Establishes whether a given control area, building or campus complies with threshold quantities for hazardous materials.
- Designs compliant buildings based on the hazardous material needs of specific users.
