About Dr. Ankit

Dr. Ankit Sharma, PhD, is a Lead Research Consultant at Jensen Hughes, USA, specializing in Fire Science and Safety. His expertise spans research, testing and code consulting, with a focus on standards-based and custom fire testing, and computational modeling to address complex and emerging fire safety challenges. His work supports a wide range of sectors, including energy storage systems (Li-ion batteries, hydrogen), the built environment, transportation, and microgravity environment.

Dr. Sharma earned his PhD from IIT Roorkee, India. He was recognized as a 2023 SFPE "5 Under 35" Awardee and as a 2022 SFPE Foundation GCI Climate Change Fellow. He holds multiple patents and has authored several publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences. In his previous roles, he has led projects at institutions such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Johns Hopkins University, Case Western Reserve University (on a NASA-sponsored project), and ARUP.

An active member of the global fire protection community, Dr. Sharma, serves on grant review panels for NASA and the NSF, and contributes to technical committees with organizations such as UL, ICC, and others. He also co-chairs the SFPE Foundation’s Energy and Infrastructure Working Group and serves as co-subgroup leader for Emergency Management and Evacuation (EME) under the IAFSS LOF&BE Working Group.
