Fire Class Certification
Jensen Hughes Denmark provides fire safety consultancy for all types of construction and is certified for all fire classes and third-party verification (BK2, BK 3/4 and Third Party Control). Our fire consultants are certified for all fire safety codes, ensuring we can document fire safety for any construction project. This applies whether the project follows prescriptive fireproofing requirements, performance-based requirements using fire and smoke spread or evacuation simulations, or a combination thereof
Certified Fire Consultants
Construction projects classified as fire class 2 or higher must consult a certified fire consultant when applying for a building permit. This requirement stems from the fact that the municipal building authority does not evaluate technical fire safety details during the permitting process. However, even projects not meeting all criteria for “Traditional Tactical Construction” still necessitate close collaboration between the building authority, municipal emergency services, and the construction team before proceeding. This collaboration remains vital despite not requiring direct emergency services approval
Certified for Third Party Verification
For Danish construction projects classified as fire class 4 (BK4), an independent external third-party verifier must conduct verification, even if a fire consultant for fire classes 3/4 designed the fire engineering. The building authority can only issue a building permit for these BK4 projects when there are initiation declarations from both the certified fire consultant who prepared or controlled the project and the independent third-party verifier. Similarly, the building authority can only issue a commissioning permit when there are two final declarations: one from the fire consultant and one from the third-party verifier.
