Bouwcampus 2.0
Bouwcampus 2.0 in Diepenbeek, Belgium, is a modern educational facility designed to support the training of technical professionals. It combines practical training spaces with theoretical learning environments, including workshops, an auditorium, and office areas.
This new campus building is constructed with timber framing, offering a flexible and sustainable design. Wooden columns and beams create a structure that can be easily dismantled and reused, allowing the building to adapt to future needs without extensive renovations. Its estimated lifespan exceeds 100 years, during which materials can be repurposed after use.
Jensen Hughes was tasked with performing a fire safety conformity analysis to ensure compliance with applicable Belgian Basic Standards. Particular attention was paid to the building’s innovative design features, such as the advanced ventilation concept and the double-duplex configuration. These features required careful evaluation from a fire safety perspective.
These elements were reviewed in close collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Federal Public Service (FPS) for Home Affairs and the relevant fire brigade zone. Specific aspects of the design were assessed and validated through consultation to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
Throughout the design process, Jensen Hughes provided consistent, hands-on support, taking a pragmatic and practical approach to achieve solutions that were both compliant and buildable, while maintaining the architectural vision of an open and modern learning environment.
