Cracking the Case: Forensic Analysis of Missed Opportunities

In this workshop, we’ll apply forensic methods and myth‑busting techniques to uncover why some technological opportunities are missed, and how those gaps could have been prevented. We’ll explore case studies from several forensic investigations such as mechanical, electrical, digital media, and innovation. Our team of experts will drive the workshop by using cutting‑edge tech such as virtual reality (VR), drones, and immersive media playing a key role both in how evidence is gathered and how lessons are made visible. We’ll challenge common assumptions, “myths” around innovation failure, adoption delays, or missed applications, using investigative forensic techniques: tracing timelines, analyzing failures, and reconstructing what happened.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

    • Identify key myths or misconceptions that often lead to missed opportunities in innovation or tech adoption.
    • Apply forensic investigative approaches to trace failures: timeline analysis, collecting/validating digital artefacts (flight logs, VR device data, media metadata), understanding physical/mechanical/electrical evidence.
    • Understand how new tools—VR, drone technologies, immersive media—can both help in detecting what was missed and prevent future missed opportunities.
    • Collaborate and reason across domains: mechanical, electrical, digital media, innovation; see how cross‑disciplinary forensic thinking applies.

  • This year’s theme, “Built for the Future: Beyond the Boundary,” inspires us to challenge limits, embrace new thinking, use innovation and unlock new opportunities across the claim lifecycle from FNOL to case closure.

  • As part of our partnership contribution, our forensics team will lead a fun, interactive workshop “Cracking the Case: Forensic Analysis of Missed Opportunities”. As guests, you will become investigators, applying forensic methods to uncover why some technological opportunities are missed and teach through the workshop how to prevent those gaps in the future. Using cutting-edge tools like VR, drones, and immersive media, our Forensic Investigators will bring case studies to life, challenge common assumptions and bust the myth that you only use forensics for high value fire claim investigations.

  • At stand 27, become a real Forensic Investigator donning our VR headset and Forensic learning at the escape of water station. We look forward to connecting with industry peers, sharing knowledge, and exploring what’s possible beyond the boundary.

Cracking the Case: Forensic Red Flags and Missed Opportunities in Damage Investigations

The Jensen Hughes forensics workshop, “Cracking the Case – Forensic Analysis of Missed Opportunities,” underscored how overlooked clues in fire and damage assessments can lead to costly errors or fraudulent claims. Attendees learned to identify key indicators such as unexplained burn patterns, electrical arcing, inconsistent structural damage, financial irregularities, plumbing tampering, and manipulated digital evidence.

The session reinforced that early recognition of these signs and close collaboration among investigators, adjusters, and legal teams can prevent misinterpretation, reduce financial loss, and strengthen the integrity of forensic investigations. The key takeaway: vigilance, precision, and teamwork are essential to turning missed opportunities into solved cases.
