Daniel O'Connor, PE is a Vice President with over 38 years of experience. He provides technical leadership and expertise to staff on a company-wide basis often in the areas of fire modeling, human behavior, and new fire protection technologies and research-related projects. His experience as a consulting fire engineer includes convention centers, historic buildings, stadiums, hospitals and several 100+ story super tall buildings. He has authored six Fire Protection Research Foundation projects in the areas of fire detection and fire suppression and is recipient of the Research Foundation's Ronald K. Mengel Award. Mr. O'Connor currently serves as a Member of the NFPA Standards Council. Mr. O'Connor is the Chair of the Society of Fire Protection Engineer's Task Group on Human Behavior and is currently the Chairman of the NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Code Committee on Initiating devices. He has served on six other NFPA Technical Committees that include NFPA 101, 72, and 13. He is past Co-Chair of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats (CTBUH) Fire Safety Working Group. In 2004 Mr. O'Connor was elected to the grade of Fellow in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
