About Matthew
Matthew “Matt” Branka, PE, has more than 12 years of fire protection engineering experience with an emphasis on providing fire and building code consulting and fire protection systems design services (fire detection/alarm and automatic fire sprinkler) to clients in the commercial and government/military sectors. He applies this expertise across a diverse array of occupancy types, including industrial facilities, commercial real estate, residential, education and healthcare. His areas of expertise include fire and life safety surveys, fire alarm and sprinkler system reviews, water-based fire protection design and hydraulic calculation preparation, as well as the review of construction documents for conformance to applicable building and fire codes.
Matt serves on the technical committee for NFPA 1, Fire Code, which advances fire and life safety for the public and first responders, as well as property protection by providing a comprehensive, integrated approach to fire code regulation and hazard management. Within the committee, Matt plays a key role in drafting documents concerning fundamental goals, objectives, performance criteria, occupancy classification, general safety standards, building services, fire department access and definitions aimed at ensuring safety for life and property from fire and explosion hazards.
