Baltimore and Chicago – Jensen Hughes and The RJA Group, parent company of Rolf Jensen & Associates, the two most experienced and respected names in the fire protection engineering profession, announced they have completed their merger following a vote by The RJA Group shareholders in Chicago today.

The merger creates a global professional consulting practice of more than 500 employees engaged in the broadest scope of specialty engineering services available to the built environment.

According to Phil Rogers, chief executive officer of the newly formed company, an integration process has already been started between the two groups. “Our goal is to establish best practices for every facet of our practice and business,” said Rogers. “This will enable us to better serve the current and future needs of our clients regardless of their fire protection engineering or research challenges or their location around the globe.”

David Boswell, president of Jensen Hughes, commented: “Our groups have many qualities in common. Both firms exhibit the highest level of technical excellence, we offer proven on-time and on-budget performance on projects, and we retain long-term client relationships. Our cultures are also very similar, which positions us well for the future. In terms of service scope, Jensen Hughes has strengths in areas such as research, testing, forensic engineering and power/energy risk analysis to complement RJA’s code consulting, performance-based design, construction management and security expertise.”

“For our clients, it is an ideal situation,” stated Martin Reiss, president of RJA. “The combined organization provides our clients with the ability to meet their fire protection and security challenges anywhere in the world. RJA has participated in over 50,000 projects in 75 countries and together with the additional Jensen Hughes resources, we have the unmatched technical strength and global presence today’s multi-national clients require.”
