Nick is a Managing Director with particular interest and expertise in finding creative fire engineering solutions for buildings which do not comply with prescriptive fire codes. He has experience leading a large number of projects in the UK and overseas, including shopping centres, offices, education buildings, residential, hotel and historic buildings.
He has investigated the effect of mezzanines in shops on smoke control design in shopping centres using CFD modelling as part of Jensen Hughes’ internal research programme. Mezzanines are common in shopping centres, but smoke control guidance makes no reference to them. His work confirmed earlier findings and has provided more robust data to support future design.
