The Problem

Because construction has been ongoing for many years, some buildings had aging fire alarm systems that needed to be upgraded. The upgraded systems subsequently had to be integrated with the new fire alarm systems to be installed in the South Terminal Complex.

The Solution

The existing fire alarm system was incorporated and interfaced with the smoke control and HVAC control systems. The airport public address system was expanded to become the primary means for emergency voice/alarm communications needed for partial or selective evacuation.

The Results

Our long-term engagement with the ongoing airport improvements allowed for maintaining consistency since the fire protection and life safety objectives had been established. This allowed construction to stay on schedule and cost efficiencies to be realized over the life of the project.
